Kathmandu: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has initiated the parliamentary hearing process for Judge of the High Court Patan, Binod Sharma, who has been nominated for the vacant position of Justice at the Supreme Court.

In a decisive move, the Committee, during its meeting today, resolved to issue a 10-day notice inviting individuals to submit complaints, accompanied by supporting evidence, in a respectful manner if they deem the appointment of Sharma to the Supreme Court position to be inappropriate.

This development follows a meeting held by the Judicial Council on August 27, where Sharma's name was recommended for appointment to the role of Justice at the Supreme Court. Subsequently, his nomination was forwarded for parliamentary hearing.

The parliamentary hearing process represents a pivotal step in the scrutiny and approval of judicial appointments, ensuring that candidates for these esteemed positions undergo a comprehensive assessment by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. As this process unfolds, it underscores the commitment to transparency, accountability, and the upholding of justice within the judiciary of Nepal.
